Tigers

This was my first feature-length screenplay about a young East Indian man who falls in with a group of charismatic small-time criminals who are struggling to carve themselves out a space in Vancouver's underworld. The hero is Randy, the first generation born in Canada, still living at home but chafing under his father's stern hand. Randy is trying to find a job that will get him out of the house but is not succeeding. At the same time, a former gang leader, Jas, has just returned from exile after stirring up too much conflict with established ethnic gangs in the city. After a chance meeting with Jas, Randy begins to see more and more of Jas' group whom he suspects are into theft rings or worse. Meanwhile the pressures of life and family begin to work on Randy and he falls in with the group. Through Randy's eyes, the group's

Exclusion Zone
Genre: War Political Drama - Feature - A patrol of Canadian peacekeepers become involved in a potentially explosive situation when they stumble on the village that has been attacked by militia in a Balkan country. Winner: Praxis Centre for Screenwriters Spring 2004 Competition. Currently being workshopped.

Lady X: Episode 13: The Ronin
Genre: Action - Short - Dylan Couper and I came up with the story of a samurai who is killed in Feudal Japan and then is reborn as a courier in Vancouver. We filmed it on MiniDV as part of the Lady X collaborative webisode series. Eventually when we filmed it, one of our actors translated half of the dialogue to Japanese. Read more here >>

Returning
Genre: Science fiction drama ghost story - Short - I wrote and directed this MiniDV short which was intended to be an acting exercise for one of my good friends. In a post-apocalyptic wilderness, a woman returns to a forest to revisit lost memories and a lost spirit. Read the script here >>

The Candidate
Genre: Science fiction drama - Short - A CBC competition sparked my interest in screenwriting after a long self-imposed absence. I wrote this Outer Limits-styled short about a woman who enters a worldwide physical and psychological competition for an unstated job. I didn't win but it caused me to think more about returning to screenwriting. Read the script here >>
