Game Writing

These are all Word .doc files.

Combat Mission Sample - read it
This is a sample of my writing for a Combat Mission scenario which involves describing a military position, a challenge and objectives. The difference between my scenarios and others is that I try to give the player a role to play in a story. I discuss more about my scenario building in Combat Mission here.

Legionnaires - read it
A rather detailed conceptualization of one of the holy grails of RTS, a decent future infantry game where the player can command from above or take personal leadership on the ground. Very much a pie-in-the-sky concept that would require serious execution.

Pharoah Walkthrough - read it
A sample walkthrough of a proposed expansion for the Sierra city-builder game Pharaoh. Unsuccessfully pitched by Wonderfall to Sierra. For this sample I read up on Egyptian history, something I was only too happy to do because of my interest in ancient history.

Rescue Mission to Phobos - read it
This was a sample scenario script I wrote when I was contracted to Wonderfall Productions as part of an effort to sell a educational game based upon near-future space science. I tried to combine dramatic and political elements, drawing from authors like Ben Bova and Kim Stanley Robinson, both of whom are good at melding personal and political crises with hard science.

Counter-Fire - read it
A fun concept I dreamed up that took the old classic artillery but with a few different spins including making it entirely 3D, combining it with another classic: Sabotage, and also including troops and a multitude of weaponry.

Penitentiary - read it
A pitch concept one-pager for Wonderfall promising a Sim-like game but sent in a prison.

Battlewagons - read it
Another pitch document which I tried to develop with Entertainment Technologies, Inc., a developer of value titles. Battlewagons is a 'lite' RTS / action game set in an ocean world ruled by giant battleships. I imagined it very much like a DMA Designs game.
