This is what I do to settle down especially when my mind and body are in turmoil temporarily. I've painted two works and this is number two. Ever since I was young I liked drawing cartoon animals so this is reaching way back now to my childhood.

My BP Cartoon: I love you Kate Beaton

My BP Cartoon
Not only am I a photographer but I also use my Wacom tablet for evil purposes like drawing stick figure cartoons. This was my response to the most recent news on the Gulf oil disaster. The headline used to read: "Oil unleashed in attempt to contain it" but now reads: "BP upbeat on installing new containment cap".

Anton Corbijn directs again: "The American"

Dutch rock photographer Anton Corbijn seemed to like his first taste at directing feature films because he's at it again this time with a big name star, George Clooney. "The American" looks like a stylish spy movie, so maybe it is his big step into transforming himself yet again.

Corbijn was better known as a photographer for a decade of music acts including U2, David Bowie, Bjork, REM, and Simple Minds. He later turned to directing videos (you can get a collection produced under the same Director's Label series that distributes DVDs from Spike Jonez and Chris Cunningham.) His work directing videos then led him to "Control", a film about the rise of Joy Division.

Saturday at Massive Attack at the UVA display

Besides taking the worst concert pictures anywhere, I had a ton of fun at the Massive Attack concert this weekend (for which I am still paying for today at work). The music: simply lovely and hypnotic and except for some truly obnoxious older rednecks in front of me (look up: combat dancing) and an almost obligatory Vancouver drizzle, I enjoyed myself completely.

One aspect of the Massive Attack show that has to be mentioned is some of the most beautiful visual displays I've seen at any concert. They don't have the scale of, say, a Pink Floyd show (and I know I'm dating myself) but very tightly integrated with their set.

Still depressed there will be no more Terminator TV

Asta luego, Terminator TV

OT note: I'm still depressed that that was the last episode we'll likely see of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles as ratings have been really too low. This was a show that had its dips but it really got going in parts and definitely had a fantastic finale this season. It was a show that had a great balance between action, humour and overarching storyline that was the perfect antidote to a long work week on Friday. I hope there's a spinoff with just Cameron and John Henry. If there was ever a sitcom for human-killing deadpan robots they'll be in it. They crack me up.
