Updated: RSS story with happy ending?
That blog site must have received more responses and notices because they informed me that they are suspending their RSS syndication feed. I should mention that they did keep up a dialogue with me, even through my anger and I'm happy they are reconsidering it because what they were doing was wrong -- even if there was some grey loophole that was available.
My advice to them is to get it working so that it filters only for CC (Creative Commons) material. That is the purpose of that licensing.
Blogs streaming Flickr images through RSS regardless of copyright
Updated: they have suspended their RSS syndication.
This may end up with my quitting Flickr finally.
Yesterday, a local photographer I know Andrew Ferguson realized that photos being posted to the Vancouver Flickr group were being streamed automatically onto a blog called Thatsvancouver.com (which has a series of sister blogs for other cities) and alerted others in this thread. A quick look confirmed that they had several of my photos as well. All photos show up with the text: "__(photographer)___ has submitted to the pool", when really they submitted to the Vancouver pool, not consented to have it autoblogged by this other site.

Resolved: flushing out shutter button with isopropyl alcohol
Many users of Canon's xxD series cameras (20D, 30D, 40D, etc.) have reported problems with shutter buttons being unresponsive over time and I have been one of them in recent months. My shutter needs to be worked a bit before it becomes responsive or other times has a delayed-reaction before triggering.
Some have taken the drastic step of sending their camera to Canon for a cleaning or taking apart their camera themselves. Having sent back my camera at great expense a couple times already I was all ready to shelve mine. However, a recent simple fix has come up that, at least in my case, has proven to improve the shutter button responsiveness.

Panasonic GF1 video: a windy day
My friend Michael Kalus has posted a video taken with one of the micro-third's cameras -- a Panasonic GF1 with 20mm -- showing what the weather is like today in Vancouver. In a word: Windy. I'm impressed with the video capabilities of that little camera.
Not so good about the wind: a big tree knocked down two balconies in my neighbourhood. Not a nice thing to wake up to. That reminds me to check out my car after work today.
My BP Cartoon: I love you Kate Beaton

Not only am I a photographer but I also use my Wacom tablet for evil purposes like drawing stick figure cartoons. This was my response to the most recent news on the Gulf oil disaster. The headline used to read: "Oil unleashed in attempt to contain it" but now reads: "BP upbeat on installing new containment cap".

Good: Brassaï "Paris". Bad: Where's the rest of my order?

I ordered the Taschen hard cover of Brassaï's "Paris" such a long time ago my credit card expired since and I had forgotten I had wanted it or ordered it. No matter, it arrived today. Quite cheap as it was a pre-order. Not complaining about that. But it also lists two other books that it says had been shipped to me. Really? Where are they? Time to go back to Amazon and ask some questions.
As for the book. It's gorgeous. 191 pages of content, big beautifully printed black and white at a pre-order price that was basically lunch money (okay, deluxe lunch money). I love Taschen.
