Babies babies everywhere; welcome to the world Amelia C.
I'm now old enough that everyone around me who wanted a baby already has one or is having one RIGHT NOW. So there are ample opportunities to hover around these weird, strange creatures that everyone seems to really like having around.
My buddy D. asked me for a big favour on Sunday. Would I watch his two year old Lily while he went to the hospital to collect his wife and their newborn? That would mean I would be there when they brought the new one home. For certain. One of life's great moments and I'm there to annoy everyone with a camera. For sure, dude!
The morning before that I was at my usual brunch club and: another baby! Sheesh. Say "hi", Elliot. That's not his mum but you can tell by the way she loved holding him that there's ideas going on in her head about that subject.
And then there's my family. That's my nephew already having firm notions about who is in charge. "You're stinky," I told him. "No! YOU'RE stinky!" he sent back to me.
Ah, kiddies. All weekend was filled with them.
Back to my buddy's little seven lb wonder. Her mum spent nearly 11 hours in labour and still had the energy to give love to big sister too. One of my other good friends, Tamara, was up all weekend doing the three day novel contest. So all the ladies were working hard.
I love how wrinkly the little newborn's arms and feet are. Ooo love her to bits already.
Welcome to the world, Amelia.
