... and hello new hotness
... and just like that I talked myself into filling up my Visa again just as it started to look sane. Yes, I got the Canon 7D.
For a long while now I had been waxing poetically or was it philosophically about having a full-frame camera but in the meantime I had gotten heavily into film and already have several cameras that have a field of view that surpasses full-frame 35mm. Yes, none of them are digital but they have satisfied my need for large resolution.
Video is something that has intrigued me since, well, since I originally did digital video a few years back with the Canon XL1s -- paying substantially more than DSLRs that have video capability now. It will be fun to play with the video mode but that really wasn't what called me to the 7D.
I have the 7D now because it is everything my 30D was -- a decent body with good frame-rate, surface durability and good resolution -- and so much better. (It helps that my 30D now does nothing but exhibit the print button -- ooooooo). The 7D has best-of-class high ISO performance, feels wonderful in the hand, and feels beefier. Plus, being a cropped-frame sensor, fits all of my existing APS-C lenses. So no real change in my gear requirements, just better.
Now to go back to that heron...

I feel like I should say "Congratulations" but also like I should be suggesting a support group for camera adicts.
Enjoy the new toy.
