18mpx vs 8mpx: now I need bigger cards

Submitted by keithloh on Mon, 2010-08-09 18:14.

I used the 7D for a Strobist meet this weekend. I meant to only be assisting so I could leave early to do something else but ended up shooting a lot and staying for five+ hours. I quickly realized that with the 7D an 18mpx RAW shot quickly fills up the cards that were good enough for my 8mpx Canon 30D. I was a bit shocked when I put in my 4gb card and it showed 128 shots available. This is when I usually shoot over 400-500 frames in an hour of this type of event. Wow time to invest.
